Enrichment

Our enrichment program offers many special activities that will fit the needs for all children.

We strive to help develop the total child, mind, body, and spirit.

"Art is in the experience, not the finished product."- Kathy Davis, Director

CHAPEL – In order to prepare children for how to sit in" big" church and as an act of worship, once a month we head down to our sanctuary and have a chapel time. We learn in chapel that we need to be quiet, be still, and be reverent, except, of course, when we are singing our fun songs.  The children really love it when the puppets arrive and share a Bible story and Bible verse that helps them grow in love and obedience.

MUSIC – Music and the arts bring so many gifts to children.  We incorporate music as part of our curriculum in the classroom and even provide time two days a week with a specialized music teacher for ages 1 – 5 yrs.   It is magical to find a teacher who loves children and knows how to fill their hearts with music and movement.  We are blessed to have Miss Sheila who brings this magic to Brook Hollow each week.

PLAYGROUND – Our playground is one of the best in Nashville!  Nature and children just go together, and we allow lots of time for exploration and creativity. Shade trees make spring and summer days fun, and because safety is a priority, turf is our terrain around climbing structures. Click here to view photos.

GYM – Bright colors, carpeted surface, and inviting toys make our gym a favorite for the children.  We call it our “rainy day room” since that is where we play when it is raining or too cold to go outside. We are so blessed to have this incredible space to run, play and release energy. Click here to view photos.

FIELD TRIPS –Our older classrooms usually enjoy two field trips per year.  In the fall, our annual trek to Gentry's Farm is loved by all. Hayrides, mazes, and pumpkin picking make this trip a hit with children and parents alike.  We do require parent volunteers who do the transporting with car seats for safety.

SPRING PROGRAM – In April, the preschoolers present our annual Spring program.  The children share songs they have learned in music class. This is followed by a reception with cookies and milk.  Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends gather for this unique time of joy and celebration.

PICNICS – In the fall, we invite preschool families to enjoy a “getting to know you” picnic here on our own playground.  Everyone brings a picnic lunch, blanket, and conversation.  Parents enjoy time together, as well as, seeing our teachers in a more casual setting.  In the spring, we have an “end of the year” picnic on school grounds to celebrate a wonderful school year together.

LIBRARY – Our church graciously allows the preschool to visit the library once a week throughout the school year and check out a book to share at home.  This resource allows children to learn how to act in a library setting and gain appreciation for books and their value.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE – In order to help accommodate active families, we have added one hour at the beginning of our day and one hour at the end of the day.  You may sign-up for before care (8am-9am) and/or after care (2:30pm-3:30pm). The cost is $10.00 or $12.00/day for each option depending on the classroom ($20 or $24/day if you choose both before care AND after care). We hope this helps attract working families that may not be able to use us otherwise.
