Stress

As we jump into the holidays and all that brings—here are some helpful tips for dealing with something we all encounter—stress!!

It may be challenging at this time of year, but taking a walk or spending time outside can truly change us.  It can bring calm, space to think more positive thoughts, and peace.  Seeing God’s amazing world and fresh air can actually reset your sympathetic nervous system.

Have a cozy place you or your child can take a break—in the classrooms we call them cozy corners.  This is a place to step away for a bit and recharge.  Don’t consider this being lazy, but rather as a regrouping of your thoughts and then actions.

Journaling has always been a favorite tool for me to organize my thoughts on paper and release them.  Write down things that feel stressful or difficult.  Sometimes to identify your stressors can help you think through the best way to deal appropriately and effectively for the desired outcome.

Christmas is such a happy time and we want to keep it that way for us and our children.  Be diligent about keeping stress at bay and enjoying these magical times.
